Abstract: The article by I.A. Semukhina is devoted to the narrative analysis of the novel by I.S. Turgenev Fathers and Sons. Against the background of M.M. Bakhtin's theory of the novel dialogue, the researcher develops the analysis of explicit and implicit dialogues in the novel, brings to light the polysubjectivity in the assessment of the protagonist and the intrinsic contradictions of the latter, his inherent mismatch. On the basis of analysis the conclusion as to the equilibrium of opportunities as the author's truth contained in the novel is made.
