Abstract: The article deals with the urgent problem of organizing speech communication and increasing its effectiveness and success against the background of attention to human reflexive activity, where metacommunicative imperative utterances play an important role. The study aims to identify the specificity of representation of a metacommunicative imperative situation by illocutionary verbs in imperative usage. The research methods include the descriptive method used to generalize and record the results of observation, the methods of semantico-pragmatic and communicative analysis, representing the specificity of imperative intention in the context of metacommunication. Used in the form of imperative mood, illocutionary verbs are used to induce the addressee to a certain speech behavior. The metacommunicative aim is primary, since the imperative form of the verb naming a speech action is used, as a rule, precisely as an incentive indicating how this inducement should be implemented. The study showed that while representing intention in metacommunicative imperative utterances through imperative forms of illocutionary verbs, they can be used in all three persons. When addressing the 2nd person, a direct inducement to perform the nominated speech action is realized; when using the forms of the 1st person plural – an invitation to perform the nominated speech action together with the addresser; when using analytical forms of the 3rd person – an instruction to perform a certain speech action to a third person (in their presence or without them). The intentions expressed by illocutionary verbs in both performative and non-performative usages can be combined, increasing or weakening the degree of illocutionary impact. Often, a combination of illocutionary verbs in the form of imperative mood is accompanied by an emotive component, especially if gradation relations are observed between the illocutionary verbs. The article demonstrates the research potential of metacommunicative imperative utterances in modern Russian, which is associated with the perlocutionary aspect of their realization and with the identification and description of the strategies and tactics of their use to achieve a perlocutionary effect and, in general, to organize successful communicative interaction.
Key words: metacommunication; metacommunicative imperative utterances; illocutionary verbs; the imperative mood; intention
